If you have flu/cold symptoms, please call to reschedule your appointment.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you can’t find the answers to your questions here:

Do I need a Doctor’s referral?

A referral is not needed, however, some private insurance companies do require one for you to be reimbursed so it is best to check into your personal plan.

What if I need to cancel due to illness?

We request 24-hour notice to cancel and avoid our $35 late fee, however, we will not charge a cancellation fee for anyone who cancels due to:
-sudden symptom onset
-a family member requiring attention due to sudden symptom onset.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Yes, you are welcome to have someone accompany you.

What if my injury is a WorkSafe BC or ICBC claim?

We need to first determine that your claim has been accepted. Please call the clinic to book your first appointment. All WorkSafe BC patients need to have a claim number to book their Physio Initial Assessment.

What do I need to be reimbursed by my extended health plan?

We can direct bill to most extended health plans at the time of your visit.
For those plans we can not direct bill, you will receive a receipt after each visit with all necessary information for reimbursement.  Each extended health plan differs with regards to the portion of fees that is reimbursed.  Please contact your insurance company for details about your coverage.

What should I wear?

Wear clothing that is easy to move in and best reveals the area of your body receiving treatment. For example shorts or leggings are best for back, hip, and knee treatments. Sports bras, open backed tank tops or wide necked t-shirts are best for shoulder, neck and upper spine treatments.

What should I expect during a pelvic health assessment?

You will be asked to complete a confidential bladder diary and pelvic floor function questionnaire prior to your assessment.

Visits are in a private room for confidentiality, but you may bring a friend or partner.

After a detailed explanation of the assessment an internal vaginal exam will be done to assess your pelvic floor muscles once your consent has been given.

When booking your assessment please inform the person you speak to at Red Cedar Physiotherapy that it is a pelvic health assessment so we can make sure the private room is available.

What can be treated with a pelvic health assessment?

– Urge and stress incontinence
– Prolapsed uterus, bladder, and bowels
– Deep pelvic pain and pain with intercourse
– Bowel dysfunction
– Over active bladder syndrome
– Pre and post natal care

Does BC Health cover Physiotherapy?

The BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) covers a portion of the fee for individuals eligible for Supplementary Benefits.  Please discuss with reception to determine your eligibility for MSP coverage.

Do I need to wear a mask?

Masks are not required in the clinic. We want you to feel as comfortable and safe at Red Cedar Physiotherapy as possible. If you choose to wear a mask, your physio will as well.

What is a TeleHealth physio appointment?

These are online video Physio appointments. We interact in a very similar fashion to our usual treatment rooms: we can watch and assess your movements, demonstrate exercises, offer self treatment strategies, provide education about your pain or movement goals, review exercise techniques, and progress exercises.

Advantages of TeleHealth include:
a) Being able to access physiotherapy from anywhere (home, work, travel)
b) Reduced contact with people as recommended by our Provincial Health Officer.
c) Increased flexibility in scheduling– we are often able to offer appointment times other than what’s shown online.

When appropriate, we encourage you to consider this model of care. Feel free to call and ask questions.

Can I do both TeleHealth and in-clinic physio?

Yes, this hybrid approach of combining both services is a great choice for many people.
Options are:
a) Completing the first half of your assessment with TeleHealth and the second half in-person at the clinic. You and your physio will decide if follow up visits will be booked for in-clinic or with TeleHealth.
b) Having your entire initial assessment in clinic and booking follow up visits with TeleHealth once appropriate.

We look forward to working with you to decide which combination is best suited for you personally.

How do I set up a profile and book an appointment online?

Step by step instructions in this PDF document »
Once you’ve made an appointment an email will be sent to you with directions and links to join a TeleHealth treatment. There is a consent box that needs to be checked before the video appointment begins.

What are my TeleHealth payment options?

You can pay for your physio appointment with Visa or Master Card. We can store your card info in our encrypted billing software, or email you an invoice that can be paid online through the same encrypted software

For TeleHealth physio can I use my smartphone or do I need a computer?

Video appointments are best experienced on a laptop or computer. You will need the most recent version of Chrome or Firefox and a good internet connection. To use an iPhone or other iOS device you will need to download the “Jane Online Appointments” app from the apple store. The app is simply a communication tool for our Jane Telehealth software, you don’t access anything through the app, it simply needs to be downloaded onto your device.
